Collecting, anime, e-sports, this couple fills their minimalist world with lively daily life

Black and white often convey a sense of calm and restraint. If a homeowner uses a lot of black and white throughout their home, it can lead one to mistakenly think the family is dull.
But that's not the case with Kiwi and Xiaohao's home.
The bookshelves are neatly arranged with the family's collections and reading materials. The predominant color white throughout the home allows light to filter in, creating a bright and inviting atmosphere.

In a black and white palette, collectible figures sit quietly on shelves, gaming equipment flickers in a dedicated room, and the dog "Fufu" lazily strolls around the house.
"I take care of the dirty stuff, and she takes care of the clean stuff. She can sleep and eat," Xiaohao said with a smile.
Kiwi jokingly responded, "He probably just wants to be alive. He has no concerns about hygiene or quality of life."
Every corner is meticulously crafted, creating a sense of entering a smooth, flat world, flat and vast, inspiring boundless reverie. This seemingly restrained, minimalist space tells a vivid story of a family in a unique way.

The first thing you see upon entering the home is a fluid living area, with curved wall panels creating soft boundaries, reminiscent of the elegant, streamlined lines of a car body.

A cantilevered TV wall cleverly divides the space. Its rounded edges and black and white accents create a seamless transition between functional areas. A flame humidifier beneath the TV wall exudes warmth, injecting a touch of liveliness into the minimalist space.
Xiaohao said, "This background wall is incredibly well-realized, just as I expected."
The living room bookcase continues the black and white palette, with the black cabinet tops complementing the white slate. The terrace outside the window extends the sense of space, where Kiwi enjoys reading and enjoying a quiet afternoon.

Every room enjoys ample natural light, making the minimalist design feel less stark.
Even more surprising is the home's futuristic gaming room.
A golden-brown light strip cascades down between the black wall cabinets. A suspended tabletop and perforated board save space, while the hammered metal ceiling reflects the couple's gaming time.
"In life, you feel like it's a space for entertainment when you're having fun, and a space for rest when you're not," Kiwi said. "Even if our paces don't align, we don't affect each other."

From the living room to the bathroom, black and white tones and rock textures permeate the home, forming the visual foundation. Kiwi initially envisioned a predominantly black and gray palette, but at the designer's suggestion, she ultimately opted for a predominantly white palette with black accents, balancing the owner's preferences with the overall design.
In the dining room, a black rectangular dining table and dark brown stools create a play of light and dark. The sideboard features white floor units paired with black-framed glass wall units, while the worktop is constructed from black slate, creating an intriguing interplay of materials.
"Given the choice between a beautiful home and a practical one, I'd definitely choose the beautiful one," Kiwi admitted. "Because we rarely cook and aren't particularly diligent, practicality isn't that important to us." In her view, a beautiful space itself holds emotional value, fostering a lasting good mood.
The master bedroom features a slightly different look, with a light gray and black wall, paired with a metal bedside lamp, gray-brown bedding, and a wooden puppy bed, adding a warm touch. Kiwi said, "Actually, most of the rest of the room is white, so this one stands out, which is why I like the master bedroom the most."

The second bedroom presents the elegant Morandi color scheme, with entire light gray walls and moss green bedding, leaving soft imagination space for future life.

The home is filled with clever touches related to the dog. The stuffed dog on the carpet and the small figurines on the shelves all speak of the owner's love for their pet.
The dog's name, "Fufu," comes from Kiwi's favorite anime, "The Burial of Fulilian."
The anime tells the story of a thousand-year-old fairy adventuring in another world. The story is quite relaxing, so the name was simplified and given to the dog, "Fufu."

Ever since getting a dog, Kiwi's resistance to puppy-related items has plummeted.
"I might not have bought them before, but now, when I see puppy toys or accessories, I can't help but buy them. I've even eaten at McDonald's four times just for four puppy plushies."
Polaroid has become Kiwi's way of documenting life. She loves taking adorable photos of Fufu and cherishes the retro, instant quality of photos. During a recent visit to her grandfather's house, she used a Polaroid camera to capture a photo of them together, immortalizing the moment.

Kiwi and Xiaohao's story began in a high school classroom. From classmates to partners, they've been together for fourteen years.
From undergraduate to graduate school, from overseas to Shanghai, and back to Xi'an, their pace has remained consistent. Living in Shanghai, 50 square meters can feel a bit cramped. "It's easy to neglect some of life's priorities, and the routine becomes repetitive. Even if your quality of life improves, your sense of happiness won't change much."

Relocating to Xi'an marked a new beginning. In this meticulously crafted black-and-white world, they refocused on their lives. For the couple, this was more than a change of location; it was a journey of inner renewal.
"The emotional rhythm and rapport remain," Kiwi said. "Being able to pick up on each other's jokes is crucial."
In this minimalist home, each person maintains their own unique lifestyle, yet they become each other's best companions when they gather. Like vibrant colors on a black-and-white canvas, the calm space becomes vibrant with the flow of emotion.

At parting time, Fu Fu found a comfortable spot in the living room. The lights in the gaming room were still on, and the action figures on the bookshelf stood silently like sculptures in the night.
This home is like a delicate container, housing the tacit understanding between two people over fourteen years, as well as every little love they've shared.
Home is about allowing space to faithfully record the essence of life. When the black and white backdrop becomes an everyday canvas, those vivid moments-the fun of action figures, the passion of gaming, the laziness of the puppy, the warmth of companionship-become its most moving touches.
